• 2.3.4 WP01O
WP010 is comprised of 5.7 aces of moderate m steeply sloping revegetation that has a
predominately westerly aspect. This unit was seeded in 2001 and therefore, has undergone two growing
seasons prior to sampling in 2003. A total of 28 plant taxa were observed in the unit (see Table 19).
Ground cover (Fgure 12) consisted of 58.1% live vegetation, 3.2% rock, 0.7% standing dead,
10.5% litter, and bare soil exposure of 27.4%. Perennial cover across the unit averaged 10.9% with
annual and biennial cover averaging 47.2%. The dominant taxa were field pennycress, Russian thistle,
and mountain brome (i3romus ma/yinatus) with 31.4%, 13.9%, and 3.2% average cover, respectively.
Woody plant density was determined from 15 belt transects and totaled 140 young and mature stems per
acre (Table 2) with fourwing saltbush the dominant woody pWnt.
Noxious weeds appear to be well controlled in this unit and the annual brome populations are
subdued unit-wide. Although wver by the early-seral species, field pennycress and Russian thistle, is
elevated, ground cover by perennials appears sufficient to progress to dominance over the next few
years. The shrub population is modest, but growing well, espeaally four-wing saltbush. Overall, the unit
• appears typical of reasonable two-year old revegetation, therefore no recommendations are proffered
other than continued monitoring, especially during the fourth growing season (2005).
Kennacon Energy Co. / Colowyo Ilene Page 44 Revegeta0on Idonkoring -2003
