SUMMARY OF 1998 ACTIVITIES
Active mining continued at the new mine during the year. No additional clearing or
topsoil removal was necessary to maintain production throughout the year. The exploration
drilling program initiated in 1997 (Permit #97-020) was extended to obtain add[ional drill
data on unpatented mining claims northeast of the existing mine. Drill sites and access roads
constructed during the exploration program were reclaimed in areas where drilling showed
no economic mineralization.
Reclamation efforts continued in the old mine area during the year with backfilling and
regrading of highwalls mined prior to 1990. Reclamation was completed on an additional
portion of this area with resloping, topsoiling and seeding.
The portion of Eagle County Road #51 which serves as a haulroad was treated with
dust suppressant during the summer. Road base material was replaced on worn areas of the
road at that time.
Approximately 413,000 tons of gypsum rock were shipped from the mine during
1998.
-3-
