C-81-011,
Sunland Mining Corporation ("Summer and Fall Water Report 1996",
by Greg Lewicki. Received by Division on February 3, 1997)
Dear Mr. Lewicki:
The Division has completed its review of the above-referenced report and has the
following requests (shown in italics) and comments.
Report's fulfillment of reporting requirements. The report fulfills for
1996 the annual hydrology reporting requirements of Rule 4.05.13(4)(c).
Water yuality ezceedances. The surface and ground water data in the
report indicate [hat no water compliance limitations were exceeded. The
NPDES Discharge Monitoring Report indicates the single pond on the Apex
No. 2 did not discharge in 1996.
Comparison of data in report with past data and permit requirements.
The surface and ground water data contained in the report are consistent
with previous monitoring data and support the probable hydrologic
consequences (PHC) described in the permit application. The discussion of
PHC in the permit application needs updating, however, as explained at [he
end of this item.
Samples from the upstream surface monitoring site and the upstream
hydrologic (alluvial) station were taken from the same location in Trout
Creek and consequently their measured parameters had almost identical
