Additional Sheets
2003 Annual Report
Pueblo West Pit
M-1977-573
Transit Mix of Pueblo
Anniversary Date: March 22
RECEIVED
MAR Z 4 2003
Division ~f Minerals and Geology
Overview of Petmit Year: During the 2002/2003 operating year what little ruining activity occurred happened
on the north side of the river. Early in the year, the mining stopped as there was no more material to mine. The
amount of land disturbed in the last year is the same as the previous year. All remaining overburden has been
stockpiled and is drawn from to do slope reconstruction. Future mining activity is shifting to the East Pit east of
Pueblo.
The Salty Soil Remedial Pxogxam, discussed elsewhere, continued on the east end of the property.
The rest of the operation remained much as it had in previous years. In fact, on the west end of the
operation, south of the river, the only change was a 1.2 acre reduction in exposed water as a result of continued
sIltation from the washing processes. No additional washing is done and all water entering this lake is
dewatering water from the north side of the river. Some additional backfilling of this lake may occur in the next
year as the site is brought to a conclusion.
The bond continued at $343,323.00.
Affected Lands: This operation, containing 296.22 acres, can be divided into many different categories of
affected land. These categories range from extraction to xevegetation. Fox purposes of this report, affected land
means any land disturbed but not released from bond. That is, any land previously permitted, but released from
bond, is not included in the affected land total. The following table summarizes some of the acreages in broad
categories. With the exception of a 1.2 acre decline in ""Total Water Surface (13onded)" the values axe the same
as they were in 2002.
Acreage Accounting
all three rima annual re ort ma s combined
Total Affected Land (Bonded) 234.85 acres
Total Water Surface (Bonded) 20.19 acres
Total Soil Replaced (Bonded) 72.7 acres
Total Revegetation in progress 35.75 acres
Revegetation: Revegetation patterns on the Divelbliss portion of the xevegetation area on the east end of the
operation continue to exhibit many of the same patterns as before.
Fox the Litvak area please refer to the Salty Soil Remedial Program described below.
Development of an irrigation and weed control program is currently underway. Work is continuing with
Pueblo County and the city to convert this land into a large park area.
Transit Mix of Pueblo 2003 Annual Report M-1977-573 Pueblo West Pit Page 1 of 2
