M-77-342)
Dear Mr. Humphries:
Included is the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) Annual 112d-3 Report foc
Climax Molybdenum Company's Henderson Mine and Mill (Permit No. M-77-342), and our
check for the $1,000.00 annual fee. Below is a summary of interim reclamation activities
conducted during 2006.
Mine Site
There were no new disturbances at the Mine in 2006, nor do we expect any in 2007. We
conducted no reclamation activities at the Mine in 2006. Additional detail on reclamation
completed at the millsite follows.
Mill Site
The tailing basin water pool increased to an elevation of 8826.0', which increased our acreage in
the Tailing deposition area in 2006 to 1,152 acres, from 1,090 acres the year prior. Based on
survey information, Henderson believes that this is a conservative estimate.
During the course of 2006, Henderson completed the Barge pump back system for recycled
process water. The system pumps from the back side of the tailing impoundment to the East
Branch Process Water Storage Reservoir. The construction of the Barge itself began in late 2005
and was completed and commissioned in March of 2006.
Henderson began construction of the Ultimate Interceptor Canal in mid-2006. This canal will be
the final freshwater interceptor canal constructed for the Henderson Mill, pending ore supply.
The canal runs from Ute Creek above the tailing impoundment to the northern edge of the No. 1
Tailing Dam. The construction was scheduled to be completed in 2006, but permitting delays
and early winter storms caused the project to be delayed into 2007. The canal is over 25,000 ft
long, affected approximately 50 acres and will carry fresh water intercepted above the tailing
impoundment around the system to the Williams Fork River.
