This is
eevidencd by the slide in the vicinity fo the fan e;;haust. Same
movement may also have occured near monument U21. The ground in
the vicinity of the monument shows surgace displacement caused by
a small landslide. No subsidence is evident in the area.
As we gather more data through additional surveys, more precise
positioning will be possible. The fluctuation in vertical datum
is due to effect of vertical angles over a very long distance.
However, the changes are relatively small and the alternative to
eliminating them immediately with an e>;pensive and time-consuming
level loop is to continue gathering and averaging data the way we
have in the past. Any movement should be detected using these
procedures,. and if necessary more wor4: could be incorporated at
that time. Movement will show up whether we use curvature and
convergence in our computations or not, so for salve of economics
we do not include these in the computations.
