C-92-080 ~"'~s!°n 'I M10eraf~ 8 Geaogy
Dear Harry:
In accordance with earlier discussions with Jim Hendricks, representing Cazbon Junction
Mine, and Mike Savage of Savage & Savage, Goff Engineering has prepazed maps and reports
covering the filling and contouring of the fill pile which exists along the main haul road.
Specifically, we have prepazed an "as-constructed" contour map of the pile which shows the
design topography (from Map 5-10) overlaid with the actual fmished topography. Also, we have
had Lambert & Associates run a representative "Slope Stability Analysis" for the pile as well.
The results of both are attached.
From the map we have determined that the Permitee has prepazed the finished pile to
essentially comply with the design. There is some difference in the "nose" configuration near
the north-central portion, but that does not effect the overall drainage characteristics from the
pile. From earlier compaction testing we determined that the material was placed and compacted
in compliance with the Permit and from the attached geotechnical report we have determined that
a minimum safety factor of 2.9 exists on the slopes along the pile.
Based on the above mentioned information, I have concluded that the shape and stability
of the fill pile meets the requirement of the design and the Permit.
cc: l) Jim Hendricks (w/enclosures)
2) Mike Savage
