ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: United Companies of Mesa County, Inc.
Operation: Virginia Acres
File Number: M-1990-021
Anniversary Date: January 24, 2004
The Virginia Acres pit has been inactive for the past year. Chemical herbicide has been used to control the
knapweed and tamarisk problem at this site.
The twice a year application of herbicide has made some improvement in reducing the growth problem.
The south part of the property continues to be a knapweed problem area. I'd say it's due to [he adjoining
property having a large growth of knapweed.
United Companies will treat the area twice again in 2004. Our first application of herbicide is scheduled
the week of January 26`".
United has made a good faith effort to eliminate or reduce these undesirable species since 1998. I plan on
meeting with the local D.M. & G. representative this spring and see where United Companies stands on this
site.
A map of this site is enclosed showing knapweed locations. Tamarisk exists here and [here with a bit
thicker growth in the northeast corner of the property.
Brent Kerr
United Co.
