Meteorological Data
No meteorological data is collected at the Yoast Mine. SCC maintains a
weather station (wind speed and direction, temperature and
precipitation) at its adjacent Seneca II-W Mine. The reader is referred
to that AHR, Appendix B. SCC also maintains a precipitation gage at its
adjacent Seneca II Mine. Data for this year are included on Table 1. A
summary of all data collected at that station is provided here in Table
2.
Data from the National Climatic Data Center's Hayden Station is used
here to evaluate the precipitation trend. For this year, 21.14 inches
of precipitation was measured, which is 3.80 inches (22~) above the
1971-2000 average. All months except February, April, May and June were
above average. Snowpack runoff, as estimated by totaling November
through March precipitation values, was 9.25 inches, which was 2.07
inches (29%) above the 1971-2000 average.

The Seneca II precipitation gage measured 18.80 inches this year . This
value is 0. 30 inches (2~) above the 1981-2006 average. Snowpack runoff,
estimated using the Seneca II precipitation gage, was 7.47 inches
(November-March total), which is 0.11 inches (2%) above the Se neca II
1981-2006 average. These values are more relevant than the Hayden
Station data when evaluating the spring runoff observed this year at the
Yoast Mine.
Ground Water
Water Levels. Table 3 provides a summary of ground water monitoring
sites at the Yoast Mine. water level data are provided in Appendix B.
Water level reports for the past six years are presented immediately
after the water level hydrograph of all data since 1991. Water level
measurements are collected with an electrical water level indicator or a
steel tape. Pressure readings (in psi) obtained from flowing wells with
pressu re gages are multiplied by 2.31 to obtain head in feet. The
2
