1 1999 Soil Sampling: Seneca Mine, Hayden Colorado
' Conclusions
' • Overall topsoil and subsoil are suitable and are supporting a vigorous dryland
pasture of grasses and (orbs. Over time, the soil will continue to support vegetation
that meets management objectives. 2W-5-99 except for texture is suitable. Since no
' other sample pits were of clay texture it is considered an anomaly. 2W-1-99 on a
gentle slope represents about 5 acres of ground and is also an anomaly. If site
improvement is desired at 2W-1-99, running a ripper on the contour over existing
' vegetation to a depth of 1 to 1.5 feet will increase infiltration and reduce compaction.
The other option is to monitor the site as plants may further establish and vigor could
increase. Fertilizer application for the area is not indicated especially since there is
' already high organic matter levels.
1
1
1
1 •
1

1

1
1 •
' 09/23/99
