Cottony
Division DIfF!CIO!
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology has completed review of the 2006 Subsidence
Survey for the Southfield Mine. The approved subsidence monitoring plan requires
monitoring in the form of land surveying of existing subsidence monitoring points at or
near structures and renewable resource lands. The surveys are required in 2006 and
2012 during the revegetation liability period.
Survey data was collected at the Thompson Ranch buildings, City of Florence water
line, and a single point along Newlin Creek. Data reported at each point includes
northing, easting, and elevation. These data are compared to the original (baseline)
survey point as well as survey immediately previous and the values are reported as the
difference (delta) from these two prior measurements.
Data collected shows that any additional subsidence that occurred since the most
recent measurement was negligible. Cumulative subsidence as compared to baseline
measurements was within the subsidence predictions in the approved permit.
Subsidence, although measurable, has had no impact to any structure or feature.
We have no further questions. Thank you for your diligence in completing monitoring
as approved in your permit application. If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincere y,
/ ~'`~z'----
Ke t Gorham
Environmental Protection Specialist II
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
Office of
Active and Inactive Mines
