The relatively low values (composite SSF values 4, 5 and 6) were in part
due to increased vegetative cover. The winter of 2004-2005 was mild with minimum temperatures a few
degees above normal. Precipitation was approximately 90% of normal with lower the normal runoff.
In addition, June 2005 was wetter than usual with precipitation coming in low intensity storms. These
runoff patterns have permitted the vegetation in stable rills and gullies to become better established
relative to 2004.
Table 11: Moffat Area Erosion Inven[orv Data Summarv
Area 2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998 1997 1996
Block 1 4 4 4 4 4 6 6 12 18 ]7
Block 2 4 4 4 4 4 4 6 6 12 26
Block 3 4 6 6 6 6 6 9 12 18 21
Block 4 4 4 4 4 4 6 9 12 18 18
Block 5 5 12 12 12 12 18 6 6 9 21
Block 6 6 ]0 11 11 11 11 9 9 15 24
Block 7 4 6 6 6 6 9 9 9 24 20
Block 8 5 8 9 9 9 2 9 9 25 24
Block 9 6 8 11 11 11 6 6 6 24 30
Block 10 6 6 6 6 12 12 9 9 36 --'
Erosion Condition Classification
Stable
Slight
Moderate
Critical
Severe All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None All
None
None
None
None 1-6
7-10
None
None
None 1, 4, 7
Remainder
None
None
None
Note: 1. This block is stable and has been stable since 1998. The terrace repairs and rills and small
gullies repaired in 2004 seem to have done well with slightly improved vegetation density. No
corrective action is planned based on the 2005 inventory.
10
