Banta.
DATE : J une 26 , 1490 Division Drtector
T0: Tony Waldron
FROM: Jim Pendleton
RE: Eagle ~. 6 Pro~9se'd Longwall Monitoring Program
I have finally obtained a few minutes to review the proposed longwall
monitoring program which Cyprus Empire Corporation submitted for
implementation at their Eagle No, 6 mine. I regret that mY fiscal year end
duties have delayed my review for so long.
The monitoring plan looks acceptable. I have only two minor concerns. As
usual, Cyprus Empire states "Monitoring of any given point: will continue until
two successive surveys indicate subsidence has ceased. Monitoring of a point
satisfying this criteria will then be discontinued." In general this approach
will probably work. However, to avoid disagreement, it would be advisable for
the operator to inform the Division of their intention to cease monitoring so
that concurrence can be obtained from the Division. Further, monuments should
be retained following cessation of monitoring, in case further monitoring
should be necessary for any unforeseen reason.
I recommend approval of the monitoring plan as submitted by Cyprus Empire
Corporation. Please advise the operator of nD' two concerns.
cc: Mike Savage
Doc. No: 8308E
JP/JP
