The last several dry years have brought about gradual increases in
TDS levels. Discharges from Sedimentation Pond 003 have shown
increases in magnesium and sulfate. This appears to be a result
of the truck washing station runoff. Waters in the upper Fish Creek
drainage have shown consistent increases in TDS levels. While this
increase is largely a result of increased mine disturbance, there
appears to be natural contributions to these higher levels. Water
in the Bond Creek-Fish Creek confluence show gradual increases in
TDS levels. This fact can apparently be attributed to increasing
mining disturbances.
Mixing and dilution appear to largely mitigate TDS loading of waters
from the mine site area. No exceedences were noted from NPDES
discharge sites from 1988. It appears that the Seneca II Mine is
operating within acceptable guidelines. Its impacts on the surrounding
and regional hydrologic area appear to be very small.
JMC/eke
1444E
