At this
time water does accumulate behind the seals and is pumped on a regular
basis from valved pipes through the southerly seal. With completion of
mining in the Second East Section, development of a second main intake
was started from the Second West Section and parallel to the main intake.
Development of the main entries is continuing concurrent with the new
intake. Little additional water has been encountered with this develop-
ment. Small amounts of water does accumulate in the noted Swale in the
main return entry. Sufficient evidence has not been noted to conclude
that the entries have crossed the Chandler Syncline, although all of the
entries have started uphill near the projected axis. When it is evident
that the syncline axis has been crossed permanent sumps will be establish-
ed to control mine water. From pumping records it does not appear that
discharge from the mine has increased. iUnderground storage in the pil-
lared section and the old Twin Pines and Cedar Canon works makes mine
intake comparisons impractical).
Discharge from the mine is being monitored in accordance with the require-
ments of Stipulation Nos. 1 an 2 and the NPEDS permit. Copies of discharge
logs, sample logs, NPEDS reports, and Mine Maps are enclosed.
Water level measurements and associated data for the water monitoring
wells for the reporting period are as follows:
T W-1 CAL DIROLA N0. 2
DATE: 10 /22/88 2/13/89 5/4/89 10/22/88 2/13/89 S/4/84
------------- ------- --------- -------- -------- ---------- ------
-------------
CONDUCTIVITY -------
780 ---------
760 --------
750 --------
750 ----------
660 ------
660
PH 8.5 8.5 8.2 7.8 7.5 7.5
LEVEL 147.7 147.0 146.6 82.3 84.D 83.5
TEMPERATURE 54 F 53 F 53 F 54 F 52 F 53 F
