Gravel has been removed
to a depth of approximately 20 feet below the original
ground level.
Approximately 1.5 acres have been stripped of topsoil and
the topsoil has been stockpiled north of the pit area.
A spoil pile was relocated from the floor of the existing
pit and was placed on the west end of the topsoil stockpile.
This pile contains large rock mixed with topsoil. The large
rock will eventually be sorted from the pile and the soil
will be replaced on the pit floor during reclamation.
No reclamation has taken place during
will not be done until all the gravel
the pit area. Gravel is estimated to
feet below the area presently mined.
been completely removed, another face
south side of the pit area and procee~
the year. Reclamation
has been removed from
be in excess of 40
After one layer has
will be started on the
i to the north.
The topsoil stockpile will be seeded with a mixture of Indian
Ricegrass and Western Wheatgrass this year.
The owner of the property has been allowing oil drilling
companies to dump waste from oil drilling operations in a
portion of the pit area. Corn Construction Co. has had
nothing to do with this operation. I would rather doubt
if there is a danger of ground water contamination due to
this dumping, since the underlying gravel strata is too thick
to allow the material to seep through.
