RECEI` fern
1981 ANNUAL REPORT
TO
MINED LAND RECLAMATION BOARD rtuu 1 } 1901
NOTTINGHAM SAND & GRAVEL CO . WiNiED LAijD PEOLP
EAGLE PIT
PERMIT NO. 78-352 Cole. Dzpl. ci
Since the beginning of excavation at this pit , Nottingham
Sand & Gravel Co . has crushed out approximately one and one-half
acres in Phase I , as shown on the map attached hereto . The
area has been mined to a depth of approximately 18 feet , which
is about the level of the Stremme & Gates Ditch at that
location. The northern cliff wall above the Ditch has been
cut completely through, and a new cliff wall to the south of
the crushed-out area is exposed for approximately 150 linear
feet . Because of the limited area exposed and because
Nottingham may wish to stockpile some gravel in the crushed-out area
in 1981-82 , no reclamation of this area has begun.
Including the washed gravel stockpile area, perhaps as
much as four acres will be involved with stockpile usage
over the next year. Nottingham anticipates disturbing
perhaps one additional acre in the next year in its crushing
operation (see attached map) . The crusher and wash plant
are expected to continue to be in the locations marked on
the map .
At this time it appears unlikely that any reclamation
efforts will be feasible in Phase I in the upcoming year .
However, Nottingham is aware of the importance of that
obligation and will report to the Board when its operations
have progressed to a point where reclamation can be begun
without interferring with current excavation activity.
