The Division has a few corrunents that should be addressed by the operator;
1. On page 8 of the AHR, Well AVF-3 has shown an upward trend in dissolved solids
but states that the trend is unlikely due to mine discharge because of a dissimilar
chemical composition between the well water and the mine discharge water. Please
expand on the specific dissimilarities in the text of the AHR.
2. On page 9, it states that summaries of the water quality data are presented in Tables
27 through 30. The Division could not locate Tables 29 and ?.0 in the AHR. Please
submit these tables to the Division.
3. On page 12 of the AHR, a small increase in the dissolved solids in Williams Fork
Alluvium Well AVF-3 around 2000 mg/L is noted. The AH:R states that the cause
of the increase is unknown, however, the data indicates that 'it is not from the mine
discharge or from the waste water lagoon. Please expand on t:he specific reasons why
it is not correlated with the mine discharge or waste water fi-om the lagoons in the
AHR.
4. In the fourth quarter of 1995, there were two NPDES non corpliance discharges for
total suspended solids on outfall 023 for the 30 day avera@;e (85 mg/l) and daily
maximum (170 mg/1). The operator should note NPDES non-compliance discharges
in the AHR.
Please respond to these concerns by January 31, 1996. If you have any questions, please do
not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
. - ~ ~~
Erica S. Crosby
Environmental Protection Specialist
c: \wp51 \eagle \961127
