Responses are numbered to correspond to the items I this letter.
Response I : Page R of Exhibit I S (Table B) of Permit No. C-84-062 specifies that Nitrate R Nitrite are
to be analyzed on a quarterly basis a[ alluvial wells. Values for Nitrate/Nitritc as N were reported for each
quarter of the 199 Water Year in accordance with the permit requirement. Individual constituent values
for Ni[ri[e as N and Nitrate as N were not reported for [he fourth quarter of 1994. Historically, [he Nitrate
ion (NO3 ~ predominates. If the Division requires [he separate reporting of each ion, Table B should be
modified to more clearly infer this intent.
Response 2: No response required.
Response 3: The flow values reported in [he 1991 AHR for Site 900 were derived from a rating table
previously supplied by die USGS. This [able was used [o convert recorded water levels into die flow
measurements presented on Table 10 of the 1991 AHR. The USGS also provided the data graphed on
Figure 17. CYCC +vas unaware that the rating table previously provided had been updated by the USGS.
Duplicate corrected copies of Table 10 reflecting the flow measurements obtained by [he USGS and
consistent +vith the values plotted in Figure 17 arc enclosed. CYCC will continue to report flows as
measured by the USGS in fuhlre AHRs.
Response 4: The field book for [he March 31, 1991 entry pertaining to site 700 indicates "`No access".
No additional information is provided. It is CYCC's normal practice to travel [o surface sites in March
and collect data if it is obtainable. On some occasions data collection is precluded due to snowpack and ice
conditions within the chmmel. CYCC will cou[inue to strive to complete all required monitoring instances
and will provide more thorough explanations in the event physical conditions at the site preclude data
col lec[ion.
i ~documrnhrhr~minc}l9kdvrsp.doc
