<br />~~ ~ ~ S ~ P 81987 <br />MINED LAND <br />RECLAMATION DIV15ibN <br />September 4, 1987 <br />F. <br />Annual Report ~: ~ 19$7 <br />Permit No. M-81-085 .D <br />Borrow Area: Riprap Quarry Area ~~FCLi1°.i~i~Uw JIVISIOf~ <br />1) Location and number of areas affected: 15 acres of the total 34.17 acres <br />permitted (see map) <br />2) Location and number of acres reclaimed: 14 acres <br />3) Location and number of acres in various stages of reclamation: <br />0 Acres backfilled <br />0 Acres graded <br />0 Acres topsoil replaced <br />14 Acres revegetated <br />4) Species of vegetation planted; the locations and approximate dates of <br />planting: The seed mixture consisted of Bluebunch Secar Wheatgrass, <br />Slender Premar Wheatgrass, Bromar Mountain Bromegrass, Durar Hard Fescue, <br />Hairy Vetch, Oregon Fleabane, Rocky Mountain Pennstemon, Woods Rose, <br />Antelope Bitterbrush, and Indian Ricegrass. A small portion of the <br />disturbed area was seeded in the fall of 1986 and the remaining area seeded <br />in August 1987. <br />5) Type and quantity of fertilizers, organic material or soil conditioners <br />used and location of use: The weed and odor free manure compost consisted <br />of one-third poultry and two-thirds dairy waste. The fertilization rate <br />amounted to 5% nitrogen, 3% phosphorus and 3%-4~ potassium. The compost <br />was applied at a rate of 2 tons per acre or a total of 23 tons. <br />6) Appraisal of the success of reclamation efforts: The revegetated area <br />looks very good with an estimated success rate of over 90 percent. <br />7) Location and number of acres to be affected in the coming year: It is our <br />intent to confine the active quarry to the already one acre disturbed area, <br />with the exception of a small area that may be expanded should the need <br />arise. Approximately 60 cubic yards of riprap is stockpiled for <br />maintenance purposes. <br />
