The Division of Wildlife has been contacted (April 18, 1985) but has
not been given time to study seed mix recommendations. In the
publics beat interest, the revegetation requirements may need to be
altered but a revision to the division will not be submitted until
we fully understand the DOW position.
Sprinkler irrigation pipe is being placed beginning April 15, 1985,
and irrigation will begin immediately after seeding. The irrigation
rate will be at about nine inches during a three month period in
1985.
The slope of 1985 reclamation will not exceed a maximum of 7y
grade. The east AOC reclamation test plots have been removed
because they were not planted within normal reclamation
requirements. These plots (two foot, three foot end four foot
depths) will be re-established in 1985.
A minor revision will be submitted to the division to address the
suitability of top sand placed on overburden. A revision was not
submitted prior to the 1985 seeding due to a lack of geochemical
test results of the soils. However, the original test plots clearly
indicate a reduced amount of top sand results in more desirenble
revegetation. A monitoring plan will be submitted as part of the
minor revision.
Respectfully,
i ~
~ /~ //
Larry /Campbell
Mine Manager
Keenesburg Mine
LC/~1
