SITE RECLAMATION ACTIVITY
APRIL 2005 TO MARCH 2006

Reclamation activity during the 2005 reporting year (April 2005 to
March 2006) consisted of reclamation of the settling ponds at the
American Tunnel site.
In the following sections of this report, environmental activity
during the 2005 reporting year and planned environmental activity
for the 2006 reporting year is discussed on a site by site basis. A
summary of acreage permitted, disturbed, and undergoing reclamation
is presented in Table A {page 2).
AMERICAN TUNNEL PORTAL AREA - Plate No. 1
During the 2005 reporting year, no additional acreage was disturbed
and approximately 4.2 acres were reclaimed. With approval of AR-3
in 2005, 0.41 acres were removed from the permit area.
Reclamation and environmental activity during 2005 consisted of;
1) removal of the loci shop building. It was damaged beyond
repair by an avalanche in January of 2005. The contents were
salvaged and the building was shipped to a steel recycling
company. Solid waste from the area cleanup was disposed of
via the local landfill collection company.
2) reclamation of the settling ponds. The sludge remaining in the
settling ponds was excavated and hauled to cells excavated in
Tailings Pond #4. The area was graded with the remaining clean
material from the embankments, amended with hydrated lime at
approximately 500 lb/acre, seeded with the "Mountain Mix"
approved for the site at a rate of 20 lb/acre and mulched at a
rate of 1 ton/acre.
3) reclamation of the Cement Creek diversion disturbance. The
diversion structure and shed were removed. The access road
(constructed by slope cut/fill) was pulled back up to fill the
cut and match the existing contours. The topsoil stockpiled
from the road cut construction (approximately 6") was spread
back over the disturbed area. The area was seeded with the
"Mountain Mix" approved for the area.
Activities planned for 2006 are;
1) removal of any buildings not designated in the permit to stay.
® 2) reclamation of the remaining disturbed area.
4) monitoring and maintenance of vegetated areas.
