Additional Page
2002 Annual Report
Menzer Quarry
M-1976-009-HR
Schmidt Construction Company
Anniversary Date: December 31
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2002 operating year there was a great deal of activity at this site, but
expansion of the mining area was minimal This was because of the large quantity of material that was available
within areas that had previously been prepared for mining. The land on the north side of the affected land
which was opened in 1999 was mined to a large extent. Mining on the south side of the operation where
mining has been done the last few years has essentially been completed, but mining on the floor of the quarry
below that south side is continuing. The completed mining areas on the south have been placed in final
reclamarion.
Annual Report Maps: The enclosed color map shows the primary areas of disturbance and the type of
disturbance occurring in each area. This map is only slightly changed from last year
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land increased considerably from last year. Land in the next stage
was stripped of forest, but the surface was left in tact to reduce erosion.
Revegetation: The site is stable. Erosion and sediment discharge is controlled.
Expected Activity (2003): The mining zone (red-orange on the map) will continue to expand northward
into the brown area. Expansion into the newly stripped areas in Stage 2 will probably start on the north side
and swing southward from there. This helps maintain good access and minimal interference with other work.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond
Schmidt Construction Company 2002 Annual Report M-76-009-HR Menzer Quarry Page 1 of 1
