C-92-080; ANNUAL REPORT
Deaz Mr. Ranney:
This is to confine that I have conducted periodic examinations of the subject mine facilities during the
year 1996. In addition, Lambert & Associates, geotechnical engineers, subcontracted to check densities and
slopes on the fill pile, and were on site on March 18, May 15 and December 16, 1996. Gravel operations on the
neazby gravel pit were somewhat curtailed during late 1996 due to winter and snow conditions.
During my examinations I found the following items to be in reasonable compliance with the applicable
sections ofthe mining permit, except as otherwise noted:
1. The haul road within the permit boundary.
2. Topsoil storage.
3. Collection ditches.
4. Diversion ditches: During September, 1996, a preliminary design for a diversion structure and
ditch interconnect north and east of the fill pile was submitted for your review.
5. Sediment ponds Nos. 1 and 2.
6. Highwall slopes: On August 19, 1996 a report from Lambert and Associates, relating to the
highwall reclamation fill for the north pit, was submitted to the operator for review and
submittal onto you.
7. Fill storage: Since activity has continued on the gravel operation permit (Ewing Mesa Pit #l,
Permit No. M-92-116), overbtudent and waste material has been transported (since
approximately June, 1995) to and placed on the fill storage site designated for the subject
permit. Attached aze field densities covering placement and compaction of the fill storage
pile.
Thank you for your continued assistance in the review of the permit requirements.
cc: 1) Jim Hendricks
2) Mike Savage
YNUY hI
V t ly your ~ ~ .i~,~
• T•~
ll L ~~ _
u•
:~
s •~, ~ 2
•.. ?• Y
Harry L.
