acres of waste rock cover at an average depth of 4 inches for an application rate of approximately
400 yards per acre (Table 5). This biosolid treatment was applied prior to seedbed preparation
which included two-pass ripping to a depth of 6 inches at a 45 degree angle. Due to the limited
quantities of biosolids, approximately 26.92 acres of cirque cover soils were limed, fertilized and
ripped prior to seeding without amending with biosolids. The Climax seed-mix was broadcast
seeded onto the prepared seedbed a[ 25 bulk pounds per acre.
Reclamation activities on the east channel cut slopes and the Mayflower decant road cut and fill
slopes were completed in 2005. Reclamation activities included applying an initial application
of fertilizer (100 pounds per acre) and seed (25 bulk pounds per acre) with a hydromulcher and
then hydromulching with one ton of wood fiber and 100 pounds of tackifyer on a per acre basis.
Approximately 5.28 and 1.39 acres were revegetated on the east channel slopes and Mayflower
decant road respectively (Table 5).
Reclamation maintenance was performed on selected areas with a Class A biosolid amendment
of 45 yazds per acre. Screened biosolids were applied with an Aerospreader on portions of the
Storke and E-Dump areas as shown on Map 2. This maintenance amendment of biosolids was
applied to reclamation that did not receive biosolids at initial seeding. This maintenance
application will enhance nutrient cycling and organic matter accumulation.
Several photographs of the 2005 reclamation activities are included below.
