DMG Permit No. M-88-1 12
Quarterly, Monthly and Bi-weekly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of April. Enclosed are analytical reports
from Accu-Labs, CORE and Sangre De Cristo laboratories. Analysis that have not been received will
be forwarded to you as I receive them. Field and rinse blanks were collected as part of the
QA/QC.
The Surface water stations RS-4 and RS-6 were inspected and found to be dry. The lysimefers were
inspected on April 17. 1998 and all were found to be dry.
when we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on May
Ol , 1998 the piezometers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water.
The two new west pit piezometers were measured (or depth to water on May Ol, 1998 with the
following result: BF-1 was 12.37 ft and 8F-2 was 16.07 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area
were also checked with the following result: PW-lwas 14.35 ft, PW-2 was 15.40 ft, PW-3 was 23.59 ft
and PW-4 was 26.30 ft.
The underdrain was at approximately 34 gpm and the leak detection was sampled in April and we
were unable to determine flow due to pump failure prior to pumping dry. A new pump is on order
and we will complete this task when the new pump arrives.
Sincerely,
V'""'
Ron Zum alt
Enclosures
cc: Bill Lyle
Dan Robertson
File
