No flow was observed at this site in the past three years. Review of
this site's TD5 plot indicates an increasing trend. Baseline data for
this site (WSS3) has been provided in Appendix E1.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2W-FG4 (WSSF3). This site is situated on Sage
Creek downstream of the impacts from the Seneca II-W Mine (NPDES 009 and
015). Monitoring of this site commenced in September 1990. The peak flow
this year was the lowest observed since 1994. This site stopped flowing
in August. This site displays an increasing TDS trend. Baseline data for
this site has been provided in Appendix E1.
The Seneca II-W PHC (revised 3/01) predicts an irrigation season average
TDS value of 641 mg/1 on Sage Creek, while a value of 700 mg/1 was
observed this year. The value observed this year in only 9$ greater than
the predicted value. However, the maximum TDS value observed during the
same time frame at NPDES 015 was only 470 mg/1 and NPDES 009 did not
discharge this year. The lower than average precipitation observed the
past several years may have also affected TDS values.
Sorincrs. Spring data may be found after surface water data in Appendix
E. Data provided are a water quality report for the past two years.
historic flow measurements and remarks, a LOWESS plot of electrical
conductivities (EC, corrected to 25° C, Since 10/1/89), and a historic
listing of percent milliequivalents of major ions and TDS. Baseline
water quality statistics for springs downstream of mining (when
available) has been provided in Appendix E1. Springs with a flow less
than 5 gpm (0.011 cfs) are analyzed for field parameters only. In
Appendix E, all native springs have a WSPG prefix (e.g., Spring 5-45 =
WSPG45) while all spoil springs have a WSSPG prefix.
Spring S-1 is located ir, an ephemeral stream channel that is the
northern tributary to Sage Creek. Further downstream in this drainage is
the 009 Pond that was constructed in October 1991. The EC plot indicates
a recently decreasing trend.
17
