These assumptions, however, do not hold true for Well WW14. Prior to mining is •
the north area (November 1992), this well was almost always dry (see the 1993
AHR for a complete listing of earlier water level data). Slate this particular
portion of the Wedge seam was dry prior to mining, spoils water will now
contribute 100$ O£ th0 water present. The Seneca II-W PHC uae6 a TDS valu0 Of
4500 mg/1 for its spoil water calculations, therefore well WW14 ie now expected
to achieve a similar TD9 value.
- Wolf Creek Coal. One mall monitors this coal seam. Well WWC4 exists in the
II-W South BxDanaioa area. Monitoring at this well mss resumed is July 1997
after being diacontiauad in June 1985. This well, eo far, has not been impacted
by mining.
- Txout Creek 9aadetoae. Wall WPC201 is used as the water supply wall for the
mina £acilitiae. It displays as iacreeeing Tns tread.
Comparison of Ground Water Quality to Water Use Standards. 9CC has compiled a
lief of ground water standards for agricultural uses (Table 5). This list ie •
composed mostly of Colorado DeDertmeat of Health ground water standards (CDOH,
Req. 61) ae of March 1999 (footnotes A, B, or ao footnote), although other
agency atendarde have been used i£ the CDOH has ao agricultural standard £or a
particular parameter (sll other £ootnotae).
Table 6 provides a cos~arison of ground water quality to agricultural standards.
This Paradox datebaee generated table doee not include the unite of
concentration (mg/1 or ug/1) ~£or each parameter. Tha unite used for each
parameter are the same ae those listed oa the standards table (Table 5) and are
also the same ae those used in the water quality reports. The frequency column
oa Table 6 indicates the number of exceedencee out of the total number o£
samples (i.e., 1/2 indicates one axceedance out of two samples). Below is a
summary of ataadarde that were exceeded. Given in parenthesis is the eouree and
use of each standard.
•
8
