Water levels are
measured quarterly in the fifteen groundwater monitoring holes. The water level is measured
monthly in QAL-5, and samples collected quarterly to analyze for the twenty two water quality
parameters listed in Table 2-1.
' The alluvial monitoring hole, RM-1, was drilled east (downstream) of the pond for Refuse Disposal
Area 2/3 on September 28, 1989. The location of this hole is shown on Plate 1. This monitoring
hole was drilled to fulfill a requirement of the mine permit. RM-1 was drilled to bedrock at a depth
' of 32 feet. No water was encountered during drilling. The hole was drilled with seven-inch hollow
flight augers and cased with perforated two-inch PVC pipe. The hole is monitored on a monthly
basis. No water has been detected in RM-1 to date. If detected, the water level will be measured
' and samples collected quarterly to be analyzed for the parameters listed in Table 2-1.
' During October 1984, the Taylor Draw Reservoir iacilities were completed and the reservoir began
filling with water. The area around the alluvial groundwater holes has become a shallow water mud
' 4
t
