^IL~i11/ 1i0111~ 11
BOA.1R-D OF
~u~ cor~ssIO~Rs
RECEIVE®
JUL 1 1 2003
ANNUAL REPORT
June 27. 2003
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Gentlemen:
~irision of Minerals and GealogY
Re: Permit No. M-1977-459
Lake County Gravel Pit (Airport Pit)
Anniv. Date July 8, 2003
Enclosed is payment of $688.00 for the annual fee for the above referenced permit. Activity in
year 2002 consisted of mining approximately 2.6,000 tons of roadbase material during
the time period July 15, 2002 to August 31, 2002. The material mined consisted of taking
down material on existing disturbed areas as shown on the enclosed map. Since the
material removed was on existing disturbed areas no reclamation took place in year 2002.
Reclamation to date has been to store what little topsoil is available at the pit in anticipation
of future reclamation.
New disturbances expected in year 2003 include stockpiling topsoil at the top East end
of the pit in order to take down the grade of the pit. It is expected that 30 to 50 feet by
500 feet of topsoil, approximately 8 inches deep will be stockpiled. It is expected that
40 to 50 thousand tons will be mined in the period beginning July 14 through October 1, 2003.
Please contact Kenneth L. Olsen at 719-486-4102 should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Kenneth L. Olsen
County Commissioner
