V
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The Analytical reports from Hazen are enclosed with this report as Appendix
A. The soils have a high sand content and range in texture from a sand
(one sample) to a sandy clay loam (one sample), most being loamy sands
or sandy loamy. Fbst are very low in clay and therefore low in cation
exchange capacity. Soil pH for all samples is neutral to mildly alkaline.
salt content as determined by conductivity measurement is also low for
all samples.
Analyses for radium and uranium revealed no anomalous or above background
concentrations in any sample (i.e., concentrations exceeding what might
be considered "typical" baseline levels of these elements in "typical"
soils). Variation between depths or with increasing distance from the
waste rock dump were indeterminate. These results indicate that radionuclide
migration has not occurred to any detectable extent. Given the reasonable
homogeneity of the entire waste rock area, this conclusion should also
hold true for areas not sampled.
