MAP: A map is included which shows the areas discussed in this annual
report as well as an indication of the areas to be operated in the
future.
UPDATE: In early May a heavy rainstorm dropped nearly an inch of
moisture on the site. Several days after the storm the soil was still
soaked to the surface. However, little additional evidence of
germination was found at the time the area was checked. The soil was
much cooler and considerable seed was seen on the surface and could be
found a short ways under the surface as well. The weather had been
cooler than previously. Hopefully, the lack of germination in the newly
moistened soil was due to insufficient time for the seed to germinate
and the cooler weather. If significant grass seedlings are not seen by
late May it may indicate that the seed was killed by the heat and
drought of the late winter and early spring period.
Page 5 of 5 Permit 77-213 Sand Pit 1986 Annual Report
