In 1986, four quarterly field tests were conducted on al- luvial wells #1 and #3 at the Bear Number Three Minesite. Copies of the results are enclosed for your information. On July 24, 1986, the alluvial well field tests for the third quarter were conducted in the presence of Randy Price and Mike Long with CMLR, and Gary Fritz with OSM. At this time, Randy Price took bottle samples from both alluvial wells. Mr. Price told me that he would submit them to a laboratory for analysis and forward the results to us. The Bear Coal Company requested copies of the results with the intent of including them in this report, but we have not as yet received them. On May 29, 1986 there was a discharge from the sediment pond at the #3 Mine. This discharge was necessitated by the abnor- mally heavy amounts of rainfall that we experienced in that month. The discharge was sampled and a copy of the analysis is enclosed. In addition, this discharge was reported to the Colorado Department of Health in our second quarter report. We do not anticipate any discharges from the sediment pond in the future unless we should again have abnormal conditions such as those last spring. In 1985, we estimate that the entire operation at Bear Num- ber Three consumed 720,000 gallons of water. There were no out- flows from the mine during the year.
