DMG Permit No. M-88-1 12 Bi-weekly and Monthly Sampling Dear Mr. Dillie: All required sampling was completed during the month of July. Enclosed are analytical reports from Sangre De Cristo Lab (SDC) for the recent bi-weekly and monthly sampling period as specified in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. The cross-reference table between sample identification numbers, sample types and sample locations is also attached. Field and rinse blanks were collected as pars of the QA/QC. Analysis that have not been received will be forwarded to you as I receive them. All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry. Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample. When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on 07/29/99, the piezometers were dry or contained well below 12 inches of water. The iwo west pit piezometers were measured For depth to water on 07/29/99, with the following result: BF-1 was 12.61 ft and BF-2 was 16.10 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area were also checked with the following result: PW-1 was 17.47 ft, PW-2 was 15.84 ft, PW-3 was 23.94 ft and PW-4 was 26.25 ft. The underdrain was measured at approximately 34 gpm. The collection pond's leak detection system was sampled and pumped dry. The leak was measured at approximately 77 GPAD. The evaporation system was placed in operation on July 02, 1999 with two evaporators. By July 07, all five evaporators were in operation. The Division approved the new superspray evaporation system and it was placed in operation by the end of the month.
