Two six-inch pipelines have also been installed from the pumps
to the main pipelines within the mine that go to the surface. Because the water is being gathered as close
to the source as possible, reducing the mine floor and/or sump contact where additional sediments can be
introduced, MCC believes that the water will be within TSS limitations and would like to discharge it
directly to the spillway of pond MB-1. When discharging into the spillway directly .from the mine,
MCC will sample the discharge at the pipc outlet in the spillway independently from other pond MB-I
discharges. MCC proposesto reportthese discharges together with pond MB-1 discharges, utiless
otherwise directed by the Water Quality Control Division. MCC will sample the water from behind the
seals to ensure that TSS limitations can be met prior to initiating dischazges into the spillway.
Please contact me should you have questions or require additional information.
Sincerely,
,~-,~~~
Kathleen G.
