The
mining or exeraetion of the materials wrll Ire confitte¢ to d,e t~otzndariss listed and shown on
Exhibit" G: l~?tcavation of dte materials would be done uti}izing a variety of equipment
including front~end loaders, scrapers, bulldozers, draglines, traek-hoes, truek, etc., a5
neeessary_ Alttough ground water will be rncountc~rcd, the pit tivitl Dave a minimum of 300
Eest of separation from thencarby Arumas ttivcr. 'l~he groundwater that will be encountered
is appro~matety. &12 feet below the surface, depending on weather and moisture eonditions
kom yesr to year. The estimated commenccm~r lots For mining will be approximately mid
November, 2004. Life of the pit will be largely market driven but, based on current volumes
of demand, the fife expectancy is 20-30 years. Topsoil that will not be used for immediate
reelattratian will be stabilized with 'a vegetative cover anti! it is used for rcclarrr3tion.
Thickness of tic topsoil ar-erages 18"_ Prom this 18" average and below.to approximately
75', is suitahle material for processing. The deptt of tte excavation wi}i be approximately
35'. There wil! be no stockpiles of waste rock or overburden.
Pit excavation will begin at the south end of the pit lvidr removal of topsoil to be stockpiled
for reuse during reclamation. Topsoil rnatcrial in excess of that required for reclamation
would he slaved. in. low. azeas of.pasturetand owned by Sandco and adjacent to the pit azea
and seeded with native grass. 1=.xeavation would begin at die west pit boundary and extend
to the east pit boundary. tlpproximately hvo acres per year will be stripped to expose the
sand and gravel deposit. Upon reaching du cast pit boundary, remova} of the sand and
gravel to about one foot above the groundwater table would progress back to the west pit
boundary. Excavated material would be hauled to stockpile at the existing processing area_
The subsequent excavation would again start at the cast pit boundary and tnatenal removed
to the final grade. 1Vet material removed will be placed on the previously excavated surfass
to allow drainags of water before loading and transporting to the stockpile area. The
.._ _ ..backslopes of_tte pit boundaries volt-bc inac6, e~ a slope not steeper than t' vertical to 3'
horizontal: Fxeavated slopex drat are temporary, i.e., betwe<~n the yearly excavations within
the pit will be made'to approximately t' vertical to 1.5' horizontal_ This protedure will. be
followed on.a yearly basis until excavation is completed to the north pit boundary.
