Page
Supplemental Sheet
M=73-007
Daniels Sand Pit #2 Annual Report
January 7, 1992
AREA 1E: (4.28 acres) Reclaimed land that forms the west aide of the
excavation produced when the ditch was moved to this area.
AREA 2E: (13.36 acres) Excavation for ditch realignment,
topsoil/overburden storage, and minor access road.
AREA 3E: (21.63 acres) Extraction, topsoil/overburden stockpiles.
AREA 4E: (2.54 acres) Former mining area and topsoil/overburden
stockpiling.
AREA SE: (24.31 acres) Extraction.
AREA 6E: (154 acres) IIndiaturbed land.
AREA 7E: (6 acres) Primarily old topsoil stockpile area from Area SE
establishment subsequent to 1980 permit.
DISTIIRBANCE REDIICTION PROGRAM: In late December 1991 a disturbance area
reduction program was initiated on this site. Under this program as
much of the currently disturbed land ae possible will be reclaimed to a
condition that would be consistent with the minor disturbance category.
This program includes lands in areas 2W, 3W, 2E, 3E, and 4E. The land
involved ie approximately 35 acres. It is expected that most or all of
this will be completed by late January 1992 with any remaining amounts
completed in February 1992•
MINE REDESIGN: Currently, a total redesign of the operation is being
formulated. This amendment which may be ready for submittal in Spring
1992 x111 completely revise all mining sequences, reclamation timing,
and the final configuration of the land. In November and December 1991
requests were made to present the preliminary concepts in this amendment
as part of the bonding reconsideration, but both requests were denied by
the Division. This amendment has been made possible through the
acquisition of additional land by Continental Materials and will correct
many of the problems that have plagued this operation since the mid
1980's as well as create a far more useful final configuration of the
land. New land acquisitions or land acquisitions in the process of
being completed are shown on the annual report map.
