Marr Mine - 2005 Annual Hydrology Report February 2006
6.0 MINE AREA SURFACE WATER
The sediment ponds (Stations 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, and 321) were monitored weekly from
March through June and monthly during the remaining months through September, 2005. There
was some inflow from snowmelt in March but no outflows. Outflows were observed in later
months on several occasions due to an above average snow year and spring storms. Discharges
inGuded Stations 301, 304, 305 and 321, which all had outflows a1 least twice during the
monitoring period. Note that discharges at the mine over the previous 4 years have been very
minimal. There were no single discharges at the mine in water years 2001, 2002 and 2004 and
those in 2003 were minimal. All of the ponds fitted at least partially during April and May antl
retained some water through the summer. No visible oil E, grease was observed in any outflow.
Samples were collected on two occasions and tested for SetNeable Solids. The field and
laboratory measurements for the 2005 water year are presented in Table 10, Mine Area Surface
Water Quality Dafa. The 2005 average pH and Flow data for each discharging station are
presented on Figure 6, Mine Area Surface Water Average pH vs. Flow. The recorded
measurements and field observations are contained on the field data logs in Appendix A, 2005
Field Data. The analytical data is presented in Appendix D.
Surface water sites 300, 306, 322, and 327 were dropped from monitoring as of January 1999
and Station 314 was eliminated from the monitoring program in October 1999. No data was
collected from any of these sites during the 2005 water year.
TABLE 10 -MINE AREA SURFACE WATER QUALITY DATA
4/5/2005 4/11/2005 4/19/2005 Sl812005
STATION 30t
Flow Rate cfs 0.488 0.085 NF NF
Field Tem erature © 2 2
H -field s.u. 8.1 8.1
EC -field umhoslcm 100 200
Oil & Grease NONE NONE
Settleable Solids mUUh <0.2

STATION 302
Flow Rate cfs NF NF NF NF

STATION 303
Flow Rate cfs NF NF NF NF

STATION 304
Flow Rate cfs 1.065 0.071 NF 0.101
Field Tem erature © 3.0 2.0 15.0
H -field s.u. 8.2 8.0 8.0
EC - field umhoslcm 200 100 100.0
Oil & Grease NONE NONE NONE
Settleable Solids mWh <0.2 <0,2

Fee: can/zoos/zoos hyd~oi~y mt Page 13
