2005 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Bax Canyon, West Flatiron, Apache Rocks,
and South of Divide Mining Areas
4.6 Traverse E-E'
Traveled the drill road from MDW 23-OS to MDW 23-04 above un-mined longwall panel 23.
This is a baseline traverse. Overburden depth to the B-Seam ranges from 2,225 to 2,275 feet.
Soil and colluvium (clay and silt) of the Wasatch Formation and sandstone of the Ohio Creek
Member of the Mesaverde Formation near MDW 23-04 were observed in the traverse.
4.7 Traverse F-F'
This baseline traverse is from a fork in the main drill road to MDWs 23-06 and 23-07 above un-
mined longwall panel 23. Soils consist of clay-silt and colluvium derived from the Wasatch
Formation and Ohio Creek Member of the Mesaverde Formation about 2,250 feet above the B-
Seam.
4.8 Traverse G-G'
This traverse begins at point F, and then goes along a main drill road above mined longwall panel
22 to MDW 14-04 that is above the eastern part of mined longwall panel 14. Overburden depth
to the B-Seam along traverse ranges from 2,150 to 2,250 feet.
Soil, colluvium, and local bedrock derived from the silts and clays of the Wasatch Formation and
the Ohio Creek Member of the Mesaverde Formation were observed along the traverse. No
subsidence features were observed in this traverse above two mined longwall panels {panels 22
and 14).
4.8.1 Location 8
This stock pond, USFS water resource pond 182 (also called pond P23-3), is located within the
area of mining influence of the northeast part of the mined portion of longwall panel 24
(Figure 9). Overburden depth to the B-Seam is approximately 2,200 feet.
831-032.710 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 19
November 2005
