relative importance. Of these 7 species, 4 should be warm season grasses and one shall be a foxb. The 1995
Reclaimed area had 12 vegetative species with greater than 3% relative cover during the 2002 sampling event.
Warm season grass species and perennial forb species are falling short of the required 3% relative cover. Only 5
species in the Osgood reference area were present at greater than 3% relative cover in both 2001 and 2002. CEC
has collected 9 years of data fox the reference area, 5 years sampling data for the 1995 reclaimed area and 4 years
of data for both the 1997 and 1998 redaitned areas. Trends in the data sets may need to be evaluated.
The drought stressed conditions appear to favor the warm season graminoids as evidenced by the data reported
for 2002, and weedy annual graminoid species, represented by Bmmur tectorum, have shown a significant reduction
in cover. Future monitoring will show how well the reclaimed areas recover form the drought conditions of 2002.
2
