NCEC - 1989 HYDROLOGY REPORT
' 1.0 INTRODIICTION
1.1 Report Contents
' New Castle Energy Corporation's (NCEC) 1989 Annual Hydrologic
Report contains information required by Permit Stipulation No. 3,
Coal Ridge No. 1 Mining and Reclamation Permit, File No. C-84-065.
This report includes data tables which include the baseline
groundwater data, as well as data collected during the operational
' period. Where appropriate, graphs have been prepared from the
data. This report also includes a discussion of future monitoring
' plans, including the establishment of various standardized sampling
protocols and quality assurance (QA) procedures. These plans will
' be discussed in light of the recent decision by NCEC to submit a
revision to the permit for a return to mining.
1
1.2 Activities is 1989
~ Since NCEC's temporary cessation of activity in spring of 1986,
' there has not been any mining activity at the site. The partially
completed mine portals remained sealed during all of 1989.
Despite the shut down of operations, an attempt was made during
1989 to maintain the monitoring program on a quarterly/annual
basis, for field parameters and lab analyses, respectively. The
wells monitored during 1989 reflect the changes in the monitoring
system made by MLRD in June, 1988.
As during 1988, monetary constraints limited the collection of data
during the first two quarters of 1989, but data was collected
during the fall and winter quarters.
