i•
•
~s
2000 Annual Hydrologic Report
Page 5
Portals respectively were sealed during the year. Depth to water data is presented on
data page GE-1. Quality information is presented on pages GE-6 through GE-9.
The Rollins Sandstone wells are numbered Rollins 1, 2, 3 & 4 on data page GE-1.
Rollins-1 is an underground well located in the North Portal and was under artesian
conditions. It was sealed as of December 1999. Rollins-2 is located at the unit train
loadout. Rollins-3 is located at the north decline. Rollins-4 is an underground well
located in the South Portal. It was sealed as of April 2000.
Mine Water
There was no annual mine inflow study performed this Year since one was performed
during December 1999 and reported in the 1999 report. Since the North and South
Portals have been sealed, there will not be any additional mine inflow studies.
Consumptive l7se
A monthly listing of domestic water usage is shown on data page CA-8. Meter 1
supplied the buildings near the Roadside South entrance gate. Meter 2 supplied the
preparation plant and the Roadside South office and bathhouse. Meter 3 supplied the
Roadside North facilities but has not been hooked up since operations resumed.
Mine water is used underground for dust suppression in the mining process and on
roadways. Water usage underground is not measured but is being estimated. The
mine water is also used for process water in the preparation plant. The water circuit in
the plant is closed but leaves the plant as added moisture in the coal and refuse.
Water added to the coal during the mining and processing can be roughly calculated
from coal moisture levels measured at different stages in the process. The following
information was used to make calculations for this Year:
-Estimated equilibrium moisture of 4.5%
-Raw coal tons; 84,758 from the Roadside North Portal with an estimated
moisture of 7%.
-Measured clean coal tons of 31,844 with an estimated moisture of 9.1%
-Estimated refuse tons of 19,964 with an estimated moisture of 18%
