i
This submittal proposes to conclude subsidence monitoring
in the Revision No. 1 area. The data supporting this request is
included in the attached Tables. The tables show the 1988 data,
1986 data, and 1986 revision. The results indicate essentially
no movement. Small changes in elevation are assumed to be
caused by using different surveyors, measurement of height of
instrument, and reading of the level rod.
The one area of discrepancy is point 29w which showed a
drop of -2.19 feet. This point has been disturbed by surface
activities resulting in confusion in locating the station. Point
25W, which had previously been disturbed by surface activities,
was located and surveyed this time. As no visible signs of
settling were observed in the field, these readings are assumed
to be due to surface disturbance rather than subsidence.
The monitoring points used are shown on Map 2 dated
December 1984. This was submitted previously with Technical
Revisions No. 13 and 14.
In the event mining resumes at Chimney Rock, the operator
will reinstitute a subsidence monitoring program if the
highwalls are angered mined.
