Dept. of Natural Resources <br />During the past year less than 35.92 acres designated as af- <br />fected area were used for mining, stockpile and haul road <br />areas. It is estimated that approximately 5,000 tons of <br />material was mined by Colorado State Maintenance Forces with- <br />in the affected area. <br />In reference to your Notice of Inspection Report dated <br />November 6, 1981, the following information is being submitted: ~~~ <br />Rebommendation #1. <br />Mining activities in this pit began prior to the <br />creation of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. Topsoil <br />and overburden was not stockpiled for reclamation of <br />mined areas at that time. Existing overburden from the <br />designated mining area will be utilized as cover material <br />and will be reclaimed as stated in the original pit <br />permit application. <br />Recommendation #2. <br />There has been no mining activities performed outside of <br />the designated permit area. <br />Recommendation #3. <br />High walls that existed in the eastern section of the <br />affected area have been sloped by the Colorado Maintenance <br />Forces. Arrangements will be made with District Maintenance <br />Forces sometime in the near future, to perform partial <br />reclamation as stated in the pit permit application. <br />Robert J arnhart, E.T.
