Permittee Name: Lak~od Brick and Tile Co. ~ Page 2
Permit No: M-79-045
Operation Name: Church Pit
Anniversary Date: 02 / 28 / 98
north into the area mined by the gravel operation again this
year. Waste material created by the clay operation was
stockpiled along the west side. This material will be used
later to create the slopes into the bottom of the mine
(brown).
Gravel - Coal Creek Sand and Gravel mined the gravel under a
lease with the mineral right owners this year. A total of
11.94 acres has been stripped in Stage A to prepare it for
mining (orange). The material stripped was placed in the
northeast part of Stage A (brown). Mining continued Stage A on
the area west of the road. A large portion of the old overburden
pile was removed and processed this year (dark blue). This
material was blended with some material removed from the stripped
area (orange) to created the product Coal Creek needed. The
current gravel operation has disturbed 21.80 acres ± in the mine.
(2) No reclamation was required this year. Filling did continue
on the north side of the old clay mining area. Coal Creek
continued to remove part of prelaw overburden pile on the
southwest side of the facility this year. In addition, they
began to fill the north slope of the old clay pit to estab-
lish the slope into the excavation area and the bench along
that part of the excavation was expanded to cover 0.57 ac
(green). All areas partially reclaimed are colored green.
We continued to install the sight berm along the west side
of the facility as required in the county plan this year
(brown). No additional reclamation is required until
mining for both materials is completed in any given stage.
(3) Clay - Mining will continue in Stage I or Stage II, no new
area will be disturbed this year because we are mining in
the area stripped by the sand and gravel operator. We will
mine deeper into the clay veins exposed in the past and
advance the face to the north as approved in the reclamation
plan. Processing will continue in the Clay Plant Site Area
in Stage 0 (pink).
Gravel - Coal Creek will continue to remove the prelaw
overburden piles as needed and mine in the stripped part of
Stage A in the southeast part of the mine. To date we have
screened the material and hauled it to another site for
processing. This may change this year if a crushing plan is
installed on Stage A.
(4) No reclamation is called for during the next year. However,
Coal Creek will continue to backfill the slope along the
south side of the old clay pit. The Waste material from
processing will be used to widen the flat area on the south
side of Stage 0. The amount of waste being generated from
