• April 13, 1991
Page 14
angle of draw has reached the pond if it still holds water.
Spring monitoring should be discontinued if the spring is
still flowing at approximately its premining rate at one year
after the angle of draw has reached the spring.
4 All springs which do not flow continuously and have never
flowed more than 0.02 cfs should be dropped from the program.
5 All ponds that have already been within the angle-of-draw for
more than one year and still hold water and do not discharge
continuously should be dropped from the program.
6 Since no problems related to the ground water levels in the
bench monitoring wells (B-1 through B-8) at the Orchard Valley
Mine Portal have been observed and because most of the bench
• wells are dry, only well B-7 should continue to be monitored.
7 Monitoring of all springs, ponds and surface water stations
should only be conducted during the Spring, Summer and Fall.
Surface water stations should be sampled monthly for a minimum
of five samples per year. Ponds and springs should be
monitored for level or flow monthly with annual full suite
analyses (in the fall) and monthly field parameters measured
at only a few selected stations.
8 Monitoring of wells should continue much as before. Where
wells are accessible bedrock wells should be monitored
quarterly for water levels and colluvial wells and well B-7
should be monitored monthly. The colluvial wells and Well B-7
• should monitored quarterly for field parameters and semi-
annually for full suite analyses.
