Long
Divisnn Direcmr
I have reviewed Eastside's Subsidence Report for the monitoring
period of 1992 and have the following comments.
The report seems accurate and sound, with no appreciable movement
due to no mining activity has taken place in the last year. The
minimum movement experienced in the alternate #1 and ~`2 Monuments
appears to be seasonal, that is, up in the winter and down in the
spring, indicating that perhaps the monuments are frost heaving
minimally. An increase or decrease of 0.02-0.035 feet however, is
not indicative of subsidence concerns and easily can be explained
by frost action.
Several site inspections together with this survey illustrate that
there has been no surficial damage to structures or renewable
resources on or near the mine site.
In light of these calculations and survey trends over the last two
years, I find no reason for subsidence issues to be a concern at
the Eastside Mine site. Upon resumption of mining, the monuments
should again show more acute elevation decreases within a plus or
minus of 0.02 to 0.35 foot accuracy.
Sincerely, ~ ~---
Y
Shawn E.
