Since we talked, Walt has
corrected the problem you mentioned in your inspection report
regarding H pond.
I would call attention to your inspection report dated
October 28, 1980 where we were specifically instructed to
strip the topsoil below the embankment of H pond. At the
next inspection trip by Mike Savage in January, I specifically
showed him the cut at H pond and was told that everything was
in order.
The Walden Coal Co. has attempted to comply with the
myriad of federal regulations dealing with the mining of coal
However, the inconsistent view that different inspectors make
in their reports only complicates the process. In addition,
we have incurred double costs as a direct result of the Mined
Land Reclamation staff. I hope that future reports will re-
flect a more consistent policy.
Sincerely,
~~~~
Jay Stewart
cc:Margie Winter
file
,. ~`,/,
- 1,
JS:mm
