Monte Pascoe, Executive Director
M1NEU LANU RECLAMATION
423 Centennial Building,1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (3031866-3567
David C. Shelton
Director
December 22, 1982
Mr. Ken Klco
Genstar Building Materials Company
Box 80
Coaldale, Colorado 81222
RE: Coaldale Quarry - File No. 77-247
'~r- .
Dear Mr-wee=
Enclosed please find a receipt for the $350.00 annual fee for the above captioned
operation. I have reviewed the annual report, photographs and accompanying
map and find them to be adequate and informative. The reclamation work seems
to be progressing well, and the experience that you have gained concerning species
useful in reclamation of the area should serve you well in the future.
I note that the company name you are now using is Genstar Building Materials
Co., rather than Flintkote. If this reflects a corporate change in the ownership
of the company, it may be necessary to complete a succession of operator form and
perhaps execute a rider to the reclamation bond. This is not always necessary;
it depends on the type of corporate change involved. I have enclosed the
appropriate form in case such a succession of operator is necessary. Please
clarify this matter.
As of January 3, 1983, we are replacing our former staff member, Pete Evans,
with a vegetation specialist, Rocky Beavers. He will be working with me in the
south half of the state. At that time, we will once again have a full 7-person
staff in the Minerals Section. I plan to have him review your annual report,
map, and photographs and make suggestions (if he has any) concerning your
revegetation progress and plans. When he has finished his review and sends you
his comments we will return the photographs, as well.
You may be sure that Rocky and I will visit this operation during the next field
season. This will be an excellent opportunity for you and I to both benefit from
his expertise and will give him an opportunity to evaluate revegetation efforts
in both initial and later stages in a severe situation.
I hope your holidays are enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Mark S. Loye
Senior Reclamation Specialist
MSL:ys
