..
1984 Annual Report
Henderson 6tining Permit No. 77-342
March 6, 1985
Page 2
Tailing deposition and water acreage totaling 611 acres at
the end of 1984 did not exceed the 625 acres which was estimated.
This was due to the reduced production of the mine and mill in
1982 and 1983, and mill water by-passes in 1983 and 1984.
Area 12
Supplies placed in the contractor's camp and stort~ge yard
were relocated, fences and power poles were removed, and the
ground was scarified and revegetated. Grass seed as well as
lodgepole and wildflower seed was broadcast in July prior to the
application of fertilizer. We have reduced the reclamation costs
for this area accordingly.
Area 13
A fill area on the county road near Area 13 faileci during
above-average spring runoff. The problem necessitated reopening
the borrow area to supply the county with material for road
repair. Work on the road and surface dressing of the borrow area
was completed in November and will be seeded and fertilized in the
spring of 1985. The reclamation cost for this area t.as been
increased accordingly.
Area 21
The north soil stockpile area was expanded an additional 14
acres for a total of 29 acres to accommodate the storagE~ of one
million cubic yards of soil.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS
Monitoring of various environmental programs which may have a
bearing on the Reclamation Plan continues to receive appropriate
attention. Highlights of selected programs for 1984 are as
follows:
Soil-Tailing Test Plot
No precise measures were made on the test plot i.n 1984;
however, the vegetation in the various cells continues to respond
according to suitability of conditions. More definitive
observations and measurements will be made in the future.
